One Hour To Better Photos

The most important lesson one can learn to take better photos is to read the manual and try each of the settings.

I have an Optio 30 3.2 3X zoom digital camera and when I first start taking photos they were awful. I planned time to read the manual and I have greatly improved my photo taking abilities in just about an hours time.

I set my camera to Macro mode (the flower shape), white balance is set on automatic, image quality is set to superior, I turn on digital zoom, 3 stars (best) for picture quality, recorded pixels set to 2048x1536. I use the auto timer and a small desktop tripod.

My light bulbs are photo quality and I shoot my jewelry on a matte finish off white vase.

Here is a sample of my photo setup:

2 photo lights and light box cube- no other lights on in room

taken at 1:00 PM - no flash used from about 3 feet away.

zoomed in - notice the radiant blue background paper

and artificial flowers in small vase- and the sides of the light

cube which need to be edited out.

I have zoomed in and will crop out the sides of the photo

cube that show in this picture and the 2 holes in the vase.

So why not take a few hours and try reading your manual and making notes of how your camera works ?
